CanWhite Sands Corp. Name Change
Announcement of name change from CanWhite Sands Corp. to Sio SilicaCorporation (‘Sio Silica’ pronounced “see-oh sil-a-kah”)
CanWhite Sands Corp. began its life four years ago on the hunt for a Canadian based deposit of clean white sand to be used in a variety of industries and applications, thus the name CanWhite.
Over the past couple of years we have watched the global movement towards decarbonization. We have seen new battery technologies that has allowed the acceleration of not only electric cars, but also wind and solar energy. We have seen countries around the world setting targets of reduced carbon footprints, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and reduced need for fossil fuels. As a result, we find ourselves today in a new world of decarbonization and electrification, paving the way for constant innovation and adoption of increasingly efficient and affordable green energy solutions.
While this was happening, we also saw a massive disruption to the global supply chain. Governments around the world had to quickly react to not only fix the immediate impact, but also look at the implications of supply chain on their long-term environmental targets. The result is that many countries around the world have prioritized the goal of bringing manufacturing back to their home soil, ramping up demand for the raw materials needed for decarbonization around the globe.
The impact of this is a worldwide demand, and associated shortage, of Silica. High Purity Silica is a key input for renewable energy products such as wind turbines, solar cells, semi-conductors, batteries for electric vehicles, high grade glass and electronics that will propel us to a greener future. Silica demand will continue to increase in the coming years with the rising global population leading to increased consumer and industry needs. Rapid urbanization, particularly in emerging markets in Asia and South America, will intensify the demand for infrastructure and products to meet their ever increasing growth and consumption. Furthermore, as these population pressures continue to strain global resources, we will see a growing demand for more efficient, sustainable, and resilient sources of energy and products.
CanWhite Sands Corp. is positioned to become one of the most significant high purity silica sand producers and suppliers on the global stage. Our Company needs a global brand to position ourselves for success as a dominant player worldwide. It is for these reasons, we are happy to announce that CanWhite Sands Corp. will be re-named as of January 1, 2022 to Sio Silica Corporation (‘Sio Silica’ pronounced “see-oh sil-a-kah”).
Sio Silica has the largest high purity silica resource in Canada, and arguably the world, on its 100% controlled mineral rights. Our deposit is one of the highest purity silica dioxide (SiO2) quartz sands that consistently tests well below the maximum allowed impurities such as iron and aluminum. Our end product after processing will be of 99.9% SiO2 purity.
We are excited to share the new Sio Silica name and brand with you. Sio Silica is poised to become the most significant and environmentally friendly high purity silica producer and supplier in the world, positioning Manitoba as a global hub in the world’s transition to a decarbonized future.
